Hotels in Sitges: Where to Stay?
Visitors to Sitges are spoiled for choice. Over the years, I've tried everything – from budget hostels for night owls to luxury villas. Here's my personal review of the hotels where I've already checked in.
More are sure to come, but these are my absolute top recommendations. Unfortunately, everything has become a bit expensive, as is the case everywhere; 10-15 years ago, I could still pay 60 Euros for an overnight stay, but now it's sometimes difficult to find anything for under 200 Euros:
The "Breakfast until Noon" Crew (Galeon Group)
These hotels are part of the same group and offer an unbeatable advantage for anyone who's out late at night: Breakfast is served here until 12:00 PM!
Hotel Galeon
A true classic with plenty of charm. It maintains that quaint old-world vibe but is absolutely modern and well-maintained.
- My Impression: Pleasantly laid-back and very welcoming. Breakfast is the absolute highlight.
- Review Check: Guests consistently praise the "best breakfast in town" and the cleanliness on review sites.
Hotel Platjador (The Flagship)
Located directly on the beachfront promenade. If you want a view, this is the place.
- My Impression: The location is unbeatable. Having breakfast in the morning with a sea view (until noon, of course) is invaluable.
- Review Check: "Top location, fantastic sea view" – room rates here are a bit higher, but justified.
Hotel El Cid & Hotel Montserrat
The group's budget options.
- My Impression: Simple, clean, and functional. If you have few demands and just need a bed (and the great breakfast), this is the right place. The Montserrat is a bit dated but solid.
- Review Check: "Affordable and central," ideal for travelers on a tighter budget.
Design, Style & Luxury
Hotel MiM Sitges (The Messi Hotel)
Super modern, stylish, and very "to be seen".
- My Impression: The Junior Suites are a dream. The absolute highlight is the Sky Suite (often called the Divine Suite) – huge and pure luxury. Downside: No balconies! But the rooftop pool makes up for it. There are often cool gay events here on the roof.
- Review Check: "Excellent spa area and magnificent rooftop terrace," though the high price point is often noted.
Hotel ME Sitges Terramar
After a major renovation, a true luxury statement at the end of the promenade.
- My Impression: Even more exclusive than the MiM. The rooms are high-end. Major downside: The location. It's a good 25–30 minute walk to the gay bars in the center.
- Review Check: Top marks for design and the beach club, but deductions for the distance to the action.
Hotel Casa Vilella
A jewel in an old villa directly on the promenade.
- My Impression: Beautiful boutique hotel. The maisonette rooms are gigantic. It's quiet and very elegant. Walking distance to the gay bars: approx. 12–15 minutes.
- Review Check: "Exceptional service and historic ambiance." Very high guest satisfaction.
In the Thick of It: Gay Center & Beach
Elite Gay Hotel (Men only)
A modern boutique hotel in Carrer d’en Tacó (Old Town).
- My Impression: Run by a very nice couple whom you also meet in the scene in the evenings. Super central, very clean, and the heated rooftop jacuzzi is brilliant.
- Review Check: "Homely, modern, and perfect for gay travelers."
Hotel Parrots
Directly on the "Gay Street" (Calle Bonaire).
- My Impression: Comfortable rooms and the perfect location. You can literally stumble from the bar straight into bed.
- Review Check: "Best location for night owls," very popular with the community.
Hotel Calipolis
The large hotel right on the seafront.
- My Impression: The balconies are amazing, especially on the upper floors with views of the church and the sea. The pool, however, is more of a "puddle" – for swimming, you'd rather go to the sea directly opposite.
- Review Check: "Best view in Sitges," the hotel generally appears very professionally managed.
Further Discoveries: From Tranquil Oasis to Beach Resort
Here are the remaining hotels from my list that I've taken a closer look at for you. Again, each has its own unique vibe.
Hotel Sitges Medium Park
A house with history that has changed significantly over the years. Formerly an almost quaint, slightly dusty family hotel, it now belongs to the stylish Medium chain.
- My Impression: The major renovation a few years ago gave the hotel a lot of style and modern comfort. Honestly, it lost a bit of its original, quirky charm, but the garden with the pool is still a small, green oasis in the middle of the city.
- Review Check: “Great design and super friendly staff.” The pool area, in particular, is often praised as a perfect retreat.
Hotel Melia Sitges
The hotel for everyone who appreciates large chains and professional service. It's located a bit outside in Aiguadolç harbor, directly on Balmins beach (the well-known nudist spot for gays).
- My Impression: Modern, comfortable, and very spaciously designed. If you love beach days, you're in paradise here. But be careful: if you want to party in the gay bars at night, you'll have to factor in a good 15–20 minute walk back or plan for a taxi.
- Review Check: “Excellent breakfast buffet and great rooms with sea views.” The location is loved by those seeking peace, but criticized by club-goers as "a bit secluded."
Hotel Subur
A classic directly on the beachfront, offering the right room for almost every budget.
- My Impression: Don't expect luxury; the standard is more comparable to El Cid or Galeon. The big plus point is the view of the promenade. If you want to save money, there are also very affordable budget rooms without a view – they are functional, but without that "sea vibe."
- Review Check: “Unbeatable location and fair value for money.” The bar on the ground floor is also a popular meeting point.
Hotel Celimar
A very traditional and simple house, distinguished by its privileged location.
- My Impression: The furnishings are very simple, comparable to El Cid. But if you want to stay directly on the promenade without spending a fortune, you're well-situated here. You can still strongly feel the "old Sitges" here.
- Review Check: “Simple, but clean and right in the thick of it.” Perfect for travelers who genuinely only use the hotel for sleeping.
My Personal Tip for Spontaneous Travelers:
If you truly want to be in the heart of the action and don't want long walks, Hotel Parrots is unbeatable. But if you focus on a spectacular view and enjoy observing the buzz on the promenade in the morning, then take a room on the upper floors of Hotel Calipolis. If you also want to stay centrally, right next to Cap de la Villa and have a large pool and a nice pool bar (during the summer months), then choose Hotel Sitges Medium Park with its wonderful antique tower in the garden
